About the Artist
Russian-born Vladimir Volegov began painting at age three, and his talent was noted repeatedly throughout his adolescence. In 1984, he began participating in, and winning, international competitions for poster art. He earned his living, however, doing commercial art that was highly sought after.
In 1990, Volegov began traveling to Europe where he earned money by painting portraits on the streets of Barcelona, Berlin, Vienna, and other European cities.
Over the past 17 years, his paintings have evolved into the striking figurative works he creates today. His vibrant color palette and bold strokes coalesce to create evocative images that possess a timeless sensibility.
